SkyFive was spun off from Nokia in 2019 to create a specialist company for Air-to-Ground (A2G) solutions and services. Our team has led the technology from early research to large-scale implementation in more than 30 countries in Europe. Our disruptive A2G solution and unique competence constitutes a new crossover between aviation and telecommunications.

Thorsten Robrecht
Chief Executive Officer
Thorsten is co-founder and Managing Director of SkyFive. He previously spent 19 years with Nokia in telecommunications, holding several Vice President and other senior management roles and leading the company’s expansion into adjacent vertical industries.
Prior to Nokia, Thorsten spent 7 years with Airbus, leading Avionics for Eurocopter. Thorsten holds a Master of Science in Aeronautics and Space Engineering.
Dr. Michael Ohm
Chief Technology Officer
Michael is co-founder and Managing Director of SkyFive. He previously spent 11 years with Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent, leading A2G from early-stage business development to full-scale commercial deployment of the European Aviation Network.
Before, Michael conducted communications technology research in Nokia Bell Labs and at the University of Stuttgart for 7 years. He holds a PhD in Telecommunications.
Dirk Lindemeier
Chief Commercial Officer
Dirk is co-founder and Managing Director of SkyFive. He previously spent 19 years with Nokia in telecommunications, leading several early-stage innovation projects to commercialization, including the launch of Nokia’s first Multi-access Edge Computing product.
Prior to Nokia, Dirk spent 10 years in military aviation, and enjoys being a pilot still today. He holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering.
Dr. Ammar Khan
Chief Operations Officer
Ammar is Managing Director of SkyFive. He previously spent almost a decade with Inmarsat innovating and leading large scale satellite communication and air to ground communication programmes. He initiated and created the European Aviation Network that resulted in providing powerful in-flight connectivity solution across the European airspace.
Prior to Inmarsat, Ammar lead technology research at University of Surrey in hybrid satellite/terrestrial systems for 5 years. He holds PhD in Mobile and Satellite Communications.
